our story

Since 2002, our founder and president, Allison Robertson has been collecting women in music memorabilia with the dream of creating a museum dedicated to women in music across the industry: performers, teachers, producers, and more.

In 2023, the Women's Music Museum was established as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit with the mission of educating the public about the impact of women in music history through the collecting and exhibiting of music memorabilia and art, and to inspiring new female leaders in the music industry.

We are currently in the fundraising process to help find a home for the collection. Once established in a location, our goal is to use the museum not only as a place to learn about women in music but to help nurture future women in music with music education classes and to promote local women in music with a place to perform.

What We Do

-We provide free activities at local events such as ArtWalk , First Friday, and Abilene Pride.

-We provide visibility for local women in music with our concert calendars, blog interviews, newsletter, and concert fundraisers.

-In 2025, we were able to provide sponsorship to a local school band and to a women's songwriting workshop.
